Grade 6 Open House, Orientation & Ice Cream Social -- Tonight, Mon 8/31 at 6 PM in NMS Auditorium

Grade 6 Open House/Orientation will be held at the Nichols Middle School on Monday, August 31, 2015, at 6 PM.  This will be 6th Grade parents' opportunity with your child to see the school and meet his/her teachers.  We look forward to seeing you there.  At this event, we will be introducing our new assistant principals, our sixth grade teachers, other important personnel, and myself.  

We will start the evening at 6 PM in the Auditorium, and then you will be led to your child’s teacher team for introductions there on the sixth grade floor, to finish in the cafeteria for an ice cream social, sponsored by our NMS PTA.

PS -- Our Open House for Grades 7 and 8 Parents will be Thursday, September 10, at 6:30 PM.

This is just a reminder to let all parents know that Homeroom and Teacher Team Assignments will be posted outside the Main Entrance on the glass of the Nichols on Tuesday, August 25, as well on your Aspen account, which will work on Tuesday.

There is no rush to come and see them in the morning, for they will be up through the first day of school on Wednesday, September 2.

There will be an AlertNow message sent home to all families tonight to just remind parents of a few things:

1. This is just a reminder to let all parents know that Homeroom and Teacher Team Assignments will be posted outside the Main Entrance of the Nichols on Tuesday, August 25, by 9 AM.

Or if you have your Aspen account, you can check your child's schedule right online on Tuesday, August 25.

There is no rush to come and see them in the morning, for they will be up through the first day of school on Wednesday, September 2.

It might not be "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" as Staples wants you to believe, but you might need to buy some school supplies, though. 

The recommended School Supplies List for each of the three grades has been posted below and we are working on it to be on the NMS website off the MPS site.

Please note that these are "recommended" school supplies.  There may be needed supplies during the school year and all of these supplies may not be completely utilized.

Welcome Back! ... Soon Enough

Long time, no hear . . . I know.

It has been a busy summer wrapping up the 2014-2015 school year, taking some time off, going to conferences, coaching some baseball, and trying to piece together all the things we need to get done so we are ready for the start of our new school year beginning on Wednesday, September 2.

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable, restful, and relaxing summer.  There is still time left to enjoy it; though, if you watch TV, all the "back to school" ads are in full swing.  

But I do need to tell you about some of the news we have to start the school year off right:  

Our plan is on Tuesday, August 25, we will be posting Homeroom Assignments on the windows of the school for students in all grades and parents to see which team their child is on.  I will send out an AlertNow message to confirm this around the 24th.
