Another Fantastic Fall Frenzy Festivity at NMS

A Very Fun, Friday, Fall Frenzy

What a fantastic, fabulous, festive day here at Nichols after-school!

I just wanted to thank all of our NMS PTA Parent Volunteers for an excellent Friday afternoon event, October 30, our Fall Frenzy.

Students had an excellent time dancing, answering trivia, mummifying, playing games, hanging out with friends, playing dodgeball, making bubbles, eating, getting Henna tattoos, playing mini-golf, and others, just to name a few.

It was a fun afternoon for all involved.

Thank you again, PTA President Ms. Rose Borges and the rest of our NMS PTA and all of our faculty volunteers!

Excellent 1st Night of Fall Student-Led Parent-Teacher Conferences

Successful Night #1 of Fall Student-Led Parent-Teacher Conferences

On Wednesday, October 28, NMS parents and students with the help of their teachers engaged in Student-Led Conferencing (SLC) during our first evening of our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Students in all grades partook in explaining to their parents how they were progressing with the standards.

They would show their parents their work examples and talk them through where they might have been in the beginning of the school year, how they have improved so far, and what they still need to do to improve.
Students were impressed with themselves.

Parents were impressed with their children.  Many, many parents appreciated the format that we have been piloting for over two years now with their children talking their parents through their learning and not just having to stand in line to have the teacher talk about their child for only a couple of minutes.  They like the timing and what they get out of the evening.

And our teachers loved to be able to show off how impressive our students are with their learning.

All the while all the learning and explaining were going on, our NMS PTA held down the hallways with raffles and Tiger swag and our Book Fair rocked in the Media Center.

Next Thursday, November 5, is our second night of conferences from 4 to 6:30 PM; we hope to see everyone else here for this spectacular night of learning.

Thank you.

Here are some pictures from the evening.

Registration for NMS Winter Sports -- Girls and Boys Basketball

How To Register for NMS Winter Sports

In order to tryout, you will need two things.  The first is a current physical with the school nurse.  If it expires soon, or is already expired, you must get a new one before you are allowed to tryout.  Coaches cannot make exceptions to this rule, and you will not be permitted to tryout without one.  Second, a parent or guardian must sign up through the Family ID Portal located on the Middleboro Public Schools Website.

To be clear, this MUST be completed BEFORE you are allowed to tryout.  Below are step by step directions on how to log on to Family ID and complete the registration.  At the end, it may ask you to pay a user fee, but this is not required until after team selection has taken place, so disregard it for now.

Any questions, please contact MPS Athletic Director Mr. Mike Perry at mperry@middleboro.k12.ma.us

A special thank you to Coach Russell for putting this tutorial together.
