Where Are You Headed? 2016 Essay Contest Winners
NMS Students Know Where They're Headed
A couple of Nichols Middle School 8th Grade students definitely know that they are headed for success.
Dr. Heather Larkin, PPS Director for Middleborough Public Schools, has helped to make sure that we have all of our students in the district knowing that school and their education is going to be the key to their future.
With this in mind, the MPS PPS office sponsored an essay contest, where students were asked to write about "Where they are headed?"
Lauren Harrington and Kyley Krueger both won 1st Place.
Lauren won first for the whole district as she wrote about how she hopes to one day be a math teacher. She understands all the work it takes to get there and the college courses she will try to excel at and the degrees she needs to attain. Lauren sees herself standing in front of class hoping to get her students to enjoy math as much as she does.
Kyley won first place for the secondary level (grades six through twelve). Her essay wasn't so much about a profession she hopes to become, but more that she hopes to be "happy." Kyley wrote how she understands that putting in work in middle and high school and then in college will help to open doors for her to bring her happiness.
Congratulations to both Lauren and Kyley for doing such a fabulous job and for showing all of us that you know where you're headed, and that we should be following your lead.
Watch for Lauren and Kyley to be recognized at the Thursday, April 7 School Committee meeting.
