2015 Summer Reading for Students

Summer Reading Books and Assignments
2015-2016 School Year
 
All Nichols Middle School students are required to read 2 books during the summer break, and complete the assignments that accompany each book.  The book lists and the assignments are listed below.  Please read the handouts carefully, and enjoy your summer reading selections!
 
Nichols Middle School Summer Reading List

Grade 6: Read 2 free-choice books at your reading level
 

Grade 7: The Revealers by Doug Wilhelm and 1 free-choice book at your reading level
 

Grade 8: The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore and 1 science fiction book from the list below:

  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Do not read Catching Fire as it will be a choice in grade 8)
  • The Maze Runner by James Dashner 
  • The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau 
  • Birthmarked by Caragh M. O'Brien
  • The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
  • Uglies by Scott Westerfeld 
  • V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and David Lloyd (graphic novel) 
  • A Wind In the Door by Madeleine L'Engle
