English Language Arts
MHS students entering grades 9-12 will choose from a list of books in each grade level. The books were selected to focus on overarching concepts which students will explore in their English courses.
Each student will choose one book from the list and will write an essay based on the prompt that accompanies his or her grade level text. All essays will be due 9/8/15 and they will be electronically submitted via Google Drive.  All students will receive instructions from their English teacher on the first day of school. For those who do not have English until second semester, they will still upload the essay to their teacher’s Google folder. The essay will count as 5% of term one grade. Copies of the book list and essay prompts will be available at the Middleboro High School Office, the Middleboro Public Library, and on the MPS website.
Student will also find a description of the books, a sample student essay, and a guide for writing the essay on the website.
Please contact Mrs. MacLeod, English Department Chair, with questions, at jmacleod@middleboro.k12.ma.us.
Mathematics
MHS students entering grades 9-12 will complete summer math enrichment using an online forum. There are four units, each including video tutorials, interactive practice, games and a digital assessment.
Students will need to sign up and log on to www.schoology.com, a free, safe, award-winning platform.
Entering grades 9 & 10 students will review foundational MCAS math concepts. Join the summer course using code: 4K9M6-5NNG7.
Entering grades 11 & 12 students will review essential SAT math concepts. Join the summer course using code:  FN443-V2P3J.
Work must be completed by 9/8/15 and will count as a quiz grade.
Please forward questions to Ms. Miles, Math Department Chair, at vmiles@middleboro.k12.ma.us.

The summer enrichment skills packets were developed by the Science teachers at MHS and are designed to help students acquire skills necessary for science. The summer enrichment packets will be available on the MPS website, at the Middleboro High School Office, or at the Middleboro Public Library.
Work is due on 9/8/15 and will count as a quiz grade.
