STEM Opportunity for Girls in Grades 6-12: Transportation YOU Boston Summit

Calling all middle and high school girls to join WTS-Boston for its inaugural Transportation YOU Boston Summit!
Come learn about careers that use math and science to solve real-world problems.  Transportation professionals from a number of WTS-Boston sponsor companies will be running interactive workshops that cover a variety of transportation concepts and challenges that they face every day. Join other middle school and high school girls to rotate through the workshops and learn about the transportation industry.
When:  Saturday, November 4, 9AM - 2PM
Location:  10 Park Plaza, 2nd floor, Boston MA
Cost: Free! Includes lunch and giveaways.
Featuring: Kate Fichter, Assistant Secretary of Policy Coordination, MassDOT
Workshop Topics (subject to change – check back for updates):
  • Bridge Design and Bridge Inspection
  • How Do You Get All Your Stuff and How Does Software Help It Happen?
  • Roadway Planning Puzzle
Additionally, there will be a panel discussion featuring local college students studying within STEM or transportation related fields. Come ask questions about what got them interested in their college studies and where they plan to go from here.
Transportation YOU is a hands-on, interactive, mentoring program that offers young girls ages 13-18 an introduction to a wide variety of transportation careers. This program is hosted by the Boston Chapter of WTS, an international organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women.
