On Tuesday night, February 7, at 7 PM in the Nichols Middle School Auditorium, our NMS PTA has brought Cory's Cause to talk with the parents of Middleborough. This special presentation is open to all parents. Middleborough Matters, Hidden In Plain Sight, and others will also be here on the 7th (We are requesting "Parents Only," please no students at the Parent Forum).
For on Monday, February 13, our NMS 8th Grade students will listen to Cory's student presentation during their DIAL class, and then on Tuesday, February 14, 6th and 7th Grade students will see Cory's presentation during their DIAL periods.
As all of us know, the opioid epidemic is just that, an epidemic that has destroyed countless lives and families in our community and area. Cory's story is one of those.
We are hoping that Cory can have a positive impact on our Nichols's students.
Here is an article from January 27th Taunton Gazette discussing Cory's visit to Berkley Middle School. Click here.
Here is another article from the Boston Globe of Cory's story. Click here.
And here is a video of Cory and his parents telling his story:
This is a story that could be anyone's, and we don't want it to be any of our kids' so we know educating our students on the dangers will hopefully make sure we don't have more Cory situations occur.
All parents are welcome to come next Tuesday, February 7 at 7 PM in the NMS Auditorium.
