Southeast Tobacco-Free Community Partnership Presentation at 3:30 PM in NMS Auditorium, 4/16
Presentation on E-Cigarettes
Mr. McLaughlin has been working on getting someone to come in and speak about the perceptions and proliferation of e-cigarettes. We had a presentation last Thursday, April 9, prior to the Conferences, and she is willing to come back for an encore presentation on Thursday, April 16, prior to the Conferences at 3:30 PM in the NMS Auditorium.
Students, children really, at this age level are hearing about how "these aren't bad for you" or "there really aren't any health risks" or "it's not as bad as ______ (fill in the blank)."
Our children need to know and understand that the health risks associated with this new "technology" is not harmless and that they need to be educated on the risks.
We have worked out to have Ms. Kathy Wilbur from the Southeast Tobacco-Free Community Partnership come and speak to parents and students at 3:30 PM, just prior to our Parent-Teacher Student-Led Conferences in the Auditorium on Thursday, April 16. We had about a dozen parents and students hear her last Thursday, and we are hoping to educate more this week.
Ms. Wilbur is going to speak about how e-cigarettes are marketed, distributed, and perceived.
Over the course of the last couple of years, Mr. McLaughlin and I have seen e-cigarettes pop up more and more. We need to continue to educate our students on this. We do so in Health class, but we asked Ms. Wilbur to come in and help.
Please come and join us for this very important presentation.
